SA Airlink has joined SA Express in suspending their services between Johannesburg and Mthatha.
This after the Civil Aviation Authority downgraded the airport as of Friday.
The airlines, who are the only two to fly this route apologised to passengers saying that the decision was made in the interest of safety and the well being of customers, crews and their aircraft.
Customers who have already booked flights can contact their respective airlines to make the necessary arrangements.
The CEO and Managing Director for SA Airlink Rodger Foster say they will work closely with the Mthatha airport management to emplace a short interim solution in the interest of delivering continued services to their customers.
A spokesperson for SA Express Madikwe Mabotha said they were working with the Provincial Government in the Eastern Cape to find a speedy solution so that operations can resume.
