No fraud in Willows deal - Mthetwa

National Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa says that no evidence of fraud or corruption was found in connection with the grants to the tenants of the Willows and Van Stadens resorts.

Replying to a question in the National Assembly, Mthethwa said three matters arising from the Kabuso Report had been reported to the Hawks.

In addition to questions around the Willows and Van Stadens resorts, the Minister said that an allegation of fraud/corruption in connection with the awarding of the tender for the curio shop at the Red Location Museum had also been referred to the Hawks.

With regard to the Red Location curio shop tender, the Minister stated that a criminal case had been opened at the Mount Road police station, adding that the matter was with the public prosecutor of the Specialised Commercial Crime Court “for a decision pertaining to prosecution.

He said it was not known how long a decision would take on whether to prosecute or not.

Mthethwa said that the entire Kabuso Report into several matters pertaining to land and leases in Nelson Mandela Bay had been handed to the National Prosecuting Authority for perusal.
