NMU still dealing with over 50 active cases of Covid-19

Seventy-five students at the Nelson Mandela University have tested positive for Covid-19, with 40 active cases currently recorded.

NMU spokesperson, Zandile Mbabela, says staff members have recorded an accumulative 99 cases, of which 14 are active.

She says the spike in infections over the past few weeks has been particularly seen amongst students residing on-campus and at accredited off-campus residences.

Mbabela says this has led to the institution developing a comprehensive cluster management system to quickly identity possible outbreaks and proactively work to mitigate it.

On Tuesday, the City recorded 3 092 cases, with 543 new cases recorded overnight.
