The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University says it will continue with its plans to screen a six episode series of the work of professor Philip Tobias, who has died at the age of 86.
NMMU says the series, which covers the highlights of his career and major finds, will be screened from late July once students have returned from their mid-examinations.
The institution also awarded professor Tobias an honorary doctorate in April but he was too ill to receive it.
Professor Tobias, a world-renowned paleo-anthropologist, died in the Wits University Donald Gordon Medical Centre in Johannesburg on Thursday morning after a three-month illness.
