NMBM to have a municipal manager by end of July - report

Nelson Mandela Bay will have a new municipal manager by the end of July in terms of a schedule submitted to the Municipal Public Accounts Committee.

The Metro has not had a permanent municipal manager since July 2009 when Graham Richards took special leave to allow an investigation into service delivery related issues to take place.

The report says that interviews for short-listed candidates took place last week, with the reference checks taking place immediately thereafter.

It says that the verification of the qualification of the recommended candidate should be completed by the end of this week after which he or she will be subject to security vetting.

It adds that the target completion date for the process and for the recommendation of a new municipal manager to be put to Council is before the end of July.

The report says that thereafter candidates for the vacant executive directors positions will be shortlisted with the target date for the filling of the vacancies the middle of September.

It adds that the scheduled date for the appointment of a chief financial officer to replace Kevin Jacoby is also mid-September.
