For the second time this month, a vagrant has discovered the remains of a baby amongst refuse in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, says in the latest incident, the body of a baby girl was discovered amongst refuse at the Koedoeskloof refuse sight, in Uitenhage.
She says a vagrant was looking through the rubbish bags when he discovered it on Monday morning.
Swart says it is not yet clear how the infant ended up amongst the rubbish and the matter is being investigated.
A Post mortem will be done to determine the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old woman from Kwadwesi in Port Elizabeth is expected to appear in court soon where she will be charged with concealment of birth.
This after a decomposed baby was also found by a vagrant in Westbrook on Saturday, near Kabega Park in the Western suburbs of Port Elizabeth.
CCTV footage from the area, taken on the 26th of April, shows a woman, believed to be the mother, stopping her SUV near a school in Westbrook. She was spotted on video getting out of the driver's side and throwing a black bag into the bushes before driving off.
A vagrant, who was going through the rubbish six days later, discovered the decomposed little boy hidden between clothing.
A post mortem for the infant is also being conducted and the docket would then be sent to the senior public prosecutor for a decision.
