The police's top brass in Nelson Mandela Bay, including Major General Vuyisile Ncata, visited the scene in Missionvale on Monday where three young men were shot dead less then 24 hours earlier.
Several others were wounded in the grisly Sunday afternoon attack after gunmen stormed a house in Indus street and started shooting.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says when police arrived on the scene they found the bodies of three men, aged 22 to 24, lying on a veranda with multiple gunshot wounds.
The case is being investigated by Algoa Park police.
On Monday afternoon, dozens of community members held a meeting with Major General Ncata and Algoa Park police station officials to voice their frustration with the apparent lack of police visibility in the area.
Residents said shootings had become a regular occurrence in the area.
The DA's Teslin Booysen, who's the councillor in the area, was at the meeting..
"What happened [on Sunday] was very sad," he said.
"It was sudden and the incident occurred within a house when a gunman or gunmen ran inside and started shooting."
Councillor Booysen said General Ncata had promised to set up a special investigating team to probe the murders.
