The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is warning residents against unscrupulous operators who are offering to fill up their swimming pools with water.
Councillor Annette Lovermore said the municipality understands the need to fill up swimming pools, but is appealing to residents to observe the restrictions in force and not to buy water from anyone, as this action will put other residents at risk.
She is urging all residents and holiday-makers to continue to use water sparingly.
The city is facing a water crisis, and residents are requested to note that any action that is in contradiction with the strict water restrictions in place will be dealt with in line with the penalties introduced.
Residents are urged to report all illegal activities around water usage to 0800 20 5050.
