NMB ready for Easter long weekend

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says it is looking forward to a fun-filled and safe Easter holiday period with more law enforcement boots on the ground.

Municipality spokesperson Mamela Ndamase said their law enforcement officers will be visible on the ground from Thursday.

"The enhanced law enforcement operations conducted in partnership with SAPS will be carried out beyond the Easter period with a special focus on drinking and driving," said Ndamase.

She added that multiple law enforcement operations will take place throughout the Metro, including but not limited to drunken driving operations, speed law enforcement, tavern compliance, roadblocks, and by-law enforcement.

"A zero tolerance approach will be taken against those who are found on the wrong side of the law."

The Metro will also welcome the vessels National Geographic Explorer ship which will dock on Friday.

The city's favourite festival, the Splash Festival which is free to the public is taking place from Friday until Monday.

This "nationally recognised" event offers a variety of fun activities for the whole family, and all residents and visitors are encouraged to enjoy the festival and all the other adventures available in the City over the weekend.
