Nelson Mandela Bay executive mayor, Benson Fihla, has paid tribute to slain councillor, Buyisile Mkavu.
Mkavu was shot dead in Kwanobuhle in Uitenhage on Saturday night.
Police said he was sitting in his car when he was shot. He died on the scene.
In a message of condolence to Mkavu's family, mayor Fihla said he was a young, dynamic and vibrant politician.
He said Mkavu previously served as a leader in the ANC Youth League and as whip of the human settlements committee.
No one has been arrested yet.
