The death toll as a result of heavy weekend flooding in Nelson Mandela Bay has climbed to eight.

Police said the body of a woman was located at 1 pm on Tuesday by members of the K9 search and rescue team in the Brak River in Rocklands.

Spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said she was reported missing on Sunday.

Meanwhile, police also released the names of the seven other people who died in flood-related incidents in Kariega and Nelson Mandela Bay.

The deceased included four-year-old Aluta Brown, 62-year-old Tamsanqa Plaaitjie, and 72-year-old Clive Noah, who all died in Kariega.

Captain Janse van Rensburg says 18-year-old Abronita Adams drowned in Kamesh while 72-year-old Clive Noah from Kariega also died due to the excessive flooding.

She says 32-year-old Sicelo Lusipho from the Walmer location also lost his life.

Janse Van Rensburg said searches are continuing for those people who have not yet been accounted for.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the two tornados that touched down in Tongaat in KwaZulu Natal on Monday has risen to 11.

KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube said about 14 people are in the hospital and teams are still busy assessing the damage.

She said it is expected that the death toll will rise.

A 16-year-old twin and a 39-year-old female died when a wall collapsed on them, while a primary school teacher from Tongaat is among those who have died.

Several severe weather warnings are still in place for both Provinces.
