Paramedics in East London have come to the rescue of a newborn baby found in a gutter wrapped in a plastic bag.
Spokesperson for Dynamic Emergency Medical Services, Werner Bester says they received a call earlier on Thursday morning about an abandoned baby in Signal Street in Quigney.
He says when paramedics arrived at the scene the child was gasping and that paramedics tried for all of 45 minutes to resuscitate the child.
Bester says the child is now in a stable condition at Frere Hospital.
"When they arrived at the scene the baby was gasping and personnel tried to resuscitate the child. They lost the pulse and resuscitated the little girl for about 45 minutes, before she was transported to Life St Dominics Hospital in East London. The Baby was later transported to Frere ICU and is now in a stable condition." he said
