The bail hearing of Port Elizabeth man, Brent Cunningham, took a new turn on Wednesday.
The woman that he's charged with severely assaulting has reopened the case against him, just weeks after pleading with the court to withdraw the charges.
Twenty-one-year-old Cunningham has pleaded not guilty to one count of common assault and two count of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The charges relate to the alleged attack on his former girlfriend, Shireen Ballan and two other people in December.
Ballan arrived in court today on the arm of her new boyfriend.
Police investigator, Mike Grobler, told the court that Ballan reopened the case because she feels intimidated by SMS's that Cunningham had sent to her new boyfriend.
However, Cunningham's lawyer, Ryno Scholtz, questioned Ballan's credibility saying she keeps changing her statement.
The hearing has been postponed to next Tuesday for a ruling by magistrate Gavin Juicy.
