Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's newly appointed municipal manager says she's optimistic about what she can achieve during her five-year tenure.
Dr Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela met the media and other stakeholders on Monday.
In introducing her, executive mayor Zanoxolo Wayile said the past three and half tears during which the Metro had no administrative head, had been long and painful.
He said her appointment opened a new chapter to build an effective, efficient and responsive administration.
Wayile also apologised to the residents of the Metro for the length of time it had taken to appoint a permanent municipal manager.
Meanwhile, the woman in the hot seat says she's under no illusion about the enormous task ahead of her.
However, Mgsengana-Ndlela says this is not insumountable.
Speaking to Algoa FM News, she spoke of inculcating a vaulue system that does not just live on paper but is put into action.
"I am coming to join a collective of administrators who must ensure that they uphold certain values. Values such as good governance, integrity and work discipline. I think that our people stand to benefit from this and all citizens from an administration that is caring and that put's people first."
