Mercedes-Benz South Africa has presented a brand new C-Class AMG vehicle to Mdantsane-born boxing world champion Zolani Tete.
The handover took place at the company's East London plant on Wednesday.
Thirty-year-old Tete, who is currently based in the United Kingdom, is the WBO bantamweight champion and former IBF junior bantamweight champion.
The handover was in partnership with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
Mercedes Benz South Africa's Manager for External Affairs and Stakeholder Relations Feliciano Janneker said partnering with Tete was quite fitting.
"He is a local talent. He runs the streets of Mdantsane as a youngster and today he runs it as a champion. He's really inspirational for a lot of young people," said Janneker.
Tete, meanwhile, said that this has always been a dream for him, adding that he owed this honor to everyone who had believed in him.
"If you believe, then everything will happen. I've always believed that one day I will be a world champion. Today, I'm a two-time world champion," he said.
Tete said he is also preparing for a fight on 13 October against Russian, Mikhail Aloyan, a fight he said he "definitely will have to win".
