New Eastern Cape education umbrella body established in East London

Eastern Cape Education MEC, Mandla Makupula, will launch a provincial structure to oversee the introduction of the Department's Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign.

Makupula will be hosting a wide cross-section of political and social players in East London on Tuesday to establish a provincial steering committee that will drive the programme.

Department spokesperson, Mandla Makupula, says the quality learning and teaching campaign was launched three years ago and seeks to ensure that everyone participates fully in schooling.

"Today the MEC is welcoming people from the religious sector, business sector, municipal sector and government and private sector so that we can sit down together and determine how exactly we are going to assist each other in ensuring that we mainstream learning and teaching in all of our schools, that becomes everybody's business and is the purpose of today's meeting" Makupula said.
