Chippa United has announced the appointment of former Kaizer Chiefs communications guru Putco Mafani to a similar position at the Port Elizabeth-based Premier Soccer League outfit.
Speaking at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium on Monday, Mafani said he was excited to be working in his home province in the role of Chippa's Manager of Marketing, Branding and Communications.
The Chili Boys, as they are affectionately known, have had a superb start to the new season and are currently 8th on the PSL table and unbeaten in their last 5 matches.
Mafani said one of his major tasks would be to secure sponsorship support for Chippa United from big business in the Eastern Cape.
"Corporate citizen are key, VW, GM, Cadbury and Goodyear and many other companies who are big in this part of the country where the automobile sector is the biggest. We going to make sure that corporate citizens become corporate partners of Chippa United." said Mafani.
