Eastern Cape MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Fikile Xasa, has presented cars worth R2.4m to six new Executive Members of the House of Traditional Leaders.
The Department said the Executive members which include the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson are part of a thirty-eight member team sworn in last September.
“The new cars a two Jeep Cherokees and four Toyota Hilux double cab bakkies were given to the traditional leaders as tools of the trade which will be used to assist them to fulfil their mandate of the House of Traditional Leaders, Eastern Cape,” said Department spokesperson, Mamkeli Ngam in a statement on Friday.
“We are here to hand over these vehicles to assist the Executive of the House in the execution of their duties’’ said MEC Xasa.
Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana thanked MEC Xasa;‘’We appreciate what the Department has done for us as we will utilise these vehicles to do our duties to the utmost best.’’
