The Mandela Bay Development Agency says it welcomes the official winding down of the highly successful COVID-19 isolation facility at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Spokesperson, Luvuyo Bangazi, says from the first of September, the MBDA as the stadium operator, will be preparing the venue for its core business, being sport and events.
He says over 1300 COVID-19 patients came through the Bay Stadium doors and nearly 100% returned home, healthy and COVID -19 free.
Bangazi says several innovations were introduced with the approval of the Metro's Covid19 joint operations centre.
These included the provision of a complete wellness program which include access to recreational facilities, prayers, fitness programs, WiFi and quality meals on offer.
