Nelson Mandela Bay hit by strikes in three departments

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is currently being hit by strike action in three departments.

The latest strike reported by the Municipality is in its electricity and energy directorate where staff downed tools on Tuesday.

Municipality spokesperson, Marthie Nel, says this will affect technical services like dealing with faults and damage to electricity supply.

The municipality's three traffic centres are also closed because of industrial action while staff in the supply chain division are also on strike.

Nel says the municipality is committed to resolving these strikes as soon as possible.

"Our executive mayor Benson Fihla have established a special task team mandated to focus exclusively o n the strike related actions and long standing staff grievances. The Municipality wishes to apologise for the inconvenience as they attempt to resolve the issue as soon as possible" Nel said.
