The death toll in the floods that caused havoc and destruction across Nelson Mandela Bay last week, has risen to ten.
Severe storms and heavy rains battered the metro and caused extreme damage in many areas, in particular Kwanobuhle, Kariega, Walmer, Blue Horizon Bay, and Kamesh.
On Saturday, Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu confirmed that the death toll had risen from eight people to ten.
One of the bodies that were discovered on Friday, was one of two females from EastCape Midlands College's High Street Campus.
The women were reported missing after Saturday's flash floods in Kariega when the vehicle they were traveling in got swept away.
Naidu said the woman's body was discovered on the banks of the Swartkops River in Cuyler Street.
"The vehicle was also found submerged in water.
"Searches for people who have not yet been accounted for are continuing by the SAPS K9 Search and Rescue Diving Units.
"Inquest dockets are opened in all of the above drownings," Naidu said.
