Nelson Mandela Bay could be hit by several protests on Wednesday as residents of Uitenhage threaten to take to the streets over housing issues and schools in the Port Elizabeth's northern areas protest over teacher shortages.
Residents of several areas of Uitenhage held a meeting on Tuesday with their local councillor where they raised their grievances over a lack of housing.
They reportedly threatened to take to the streets today if the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality did not meet their demands.
Meanwhile, the Herald reports that teachers from the Chatty High School in Bloemendal will hold a picket protest to demand that the Education Department fill vacant posts at the school.
Yesterday, East London police took action against municipal workers staging a protest outside city hall demanding the payment of a 14th cheque.
Algoa FM also received reports of people protesting in Middeldrift Tuesday.
