The president of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union, Mzwandile Makwayiba will lead May Day celebrations in Humansdorp on Wednesday.
Local Cosatu secretary, Noel Draai says the event at the Humansdorp Country Club is the official Cosatu May Day rally for the Cacadu district, and will focus largely on farm workers in the area.
"We are going to be focusing on the recent announcement from the minister of the R105 for farm workers, which are the most vulnerable. We also want to emphasize to farmers that we must comply with the laws. We want to be respected and respect the government of the day" he said.
The event will also be attended by ANC NEC member Lynne Brown, and the SACP’s Xolile Nqatha.
