Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says that it has repaired nearly six thousand water leaks across the Metro in the first three months of this year.
Mayoral Committee Member for Infrastructure and Engineering, Masixole Zinto, says a total of 5-thousand-938 water leaks were repaired.
He says the vigilance of residents through increased reporting of leaks has resulted in the improvement in turn-around times.
Zinto says their efforts at addressing water leaks, which cost the Metro vast sums of money a year, are supported by both internal plumbing teams and appointed contractors.
He says Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is continuing to emphasise the need for communities to play their role in using water sparingly and reporting leaks timeously.
