National Tourism Careers Expo to take place next month


The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Tokozile Xasa, is calling on young people to take tourism entrepreneurship seriously, saying it's a sector that can create much needed jobs.

Xasa was speaking at the National Tourism Careers Expo Media Launch in Port Elizabeth on Monday.

She says the career expo is aimed at exposing young people to the tourism industry.

"We trying to create awareness about tourism as a career of choice and also exposing our industry as an employer of choice. It provides a platform so that young people can understand what tourism is all about so that we continue to grow tourism which currently contribute 9% into the gross dpmestic product of the country." says Xasa.

The career expo which targets learners, unemployed graduates and educators, is in its third leg and will be held between the 2nd and 4th of October at the East London International Convention Centre.
