A woman, who was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 3-year-old girl in Mdantsane, East London is due to appear in court on Tuesday.
Perfect Gift Msesiwe was kidnapped by the family's Mozambican nanny in August, and taken to Mozambique from where the kidnapper had demanded a R500 000 ransom.
In a joint operation between the Hawks and Mozambican police, the nanny was arrested in Gauteng while two other people were arrested by Mosambican authorities. She confessed that she had committed the offence and clues of the whereabouts of the child serviced.
The little girl was formally reunited with her parents last week Thursday at the provincial police headquarters in King Williams Town. She has been charged with extortion, for illegally being in the country, kidnapping and human trafficking.
She appeared briefly in a Court in Gauteng a week ago.
