A Spokesperson for the Bitou Municipality Manfred van Rooyen says, unfortunately, their meeting with community leaders was unsuccessful and protests are expected to continue on Thursday.
He says the municipality would like to put it on record that they no longer consider the actions of the past 48 hours to be related to service delivery as there is overwhelming evidence that it is rampant crime, accompanied by violence, looting, theft, vandalism and malicious damage to property,
Van Rooyen says in the early hours of Thursday morning the office of the Youth & Sports Development Officer was ransacked, looted and set alight.
He says the Usave shop in New Horizons was also looted with the damage estimated to run into millions.
