The N-2 Wild Coast Road will cost a total of R9.1 billion to construct, with the two largest bridges over the Mtentu and Msikaba rivers alone, costing R2.1 billion.
Marlize Nel Verwey, of the SA National Roads Agency Limited, was speaking yesterday at a conference on the development of the Wild Coast.
She told delegates that construction of the super-highway depends on the outcome of a court challenge.
However, she said, SANRAL was engaged with the litigating parties and it now looks as if they have reached a conclusion and the cases will be dropped”.
She said if that happened it will be all systems go and SANRAL would start with the process of land acquisition.
