A George fireman murdered at his home on Sunday has been identified.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies says 33-year-old Warwick Fischer was stabbed to death at the entrance of his house in Bruce Street, in Borcherds.
He says Fischer, who was off duty then, was stabbed in the neck and back in an alleged attempted robbery.
Sergeant Spies says he managed to get into his car and tried to drive himself to hospital.
He says he allegedly lost consciousness on his way to the hospital and crashed his vehicle into a house on Krogh Street.
Fischer was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
Police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the murder who is expected to appear in the local magistrates court on Tuesday.
