A 26-year-old suspect will make his first appearance in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of murder and housebreaking following his arrest on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says the suspect was arrested by the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit after a 26-year-old was fatally wounded in Salt Lake on Thursday.
She says Sherwin Russouw was found in Barends Street with a gunshot wound to the back.
He later died in hospital.
Naidu says as the suspect was exiting his yard in Salt Lake, he spotted the police officials and started running.
He jumped over boundary walls and was eventually apprehended after he broke into a house to try and hide.
The owners were not at home at the time.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
