Multi-million rand upgrade for East London's Fleet Street

 One of East London's busiest streets is going to get a multi-million rand make-over.

Buffalo City Metro mayor Zukiswa Ncitha turned the sod for the R85 million upgrade of Fleet Street on Tuesday, which is expected to be completed in two years.

Ncitha said the overhaul includes resurfacing of the road and sidewalks and the relocation of water pipes.

She says the tender was awarded to Siyahlomisa Construction.

"We have appointed a service provider that have capacity in terms of their skills to complete the project" she said
