Eastern Cape Police have established a Task Team to investigate three murders that took place on Friday, all linked to the ongoing taxi-war in Mthatha.
Police Spokesperson Captain Dineo Koena says in the first incident a 40-year-old taxi driver was gunned down on the R61 when he was stopped by an unlicensed car with four suspects inside.
His passengers and conductor escaped unhurt.
She says in another incident 7 hours later, a 37-year old taxi owner was gunned down while driving with two friends, on the N2 between Durban and Mthatha.
Koena says then, an hour later also along the N2, near Riverside, a 36-year old man who was a passenger in a taxi was shot and killed by unknown assailants. The taxi conductor was critically injured.
