The Minister of Defence, Lindiwe Sisulu, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Eastern Cape Premier, Noxolo Kiviet on Monday, on the transfer of Mthatha airport to the South African National Defence Force.
The Ministry of Defence says Cabinet last week approved the transfer of the airport to the SANDF for a period of three years.
It says the project is aimed among other things to improve access to Mthatha, while improving the local economy through tourism and culture.
