A 62-year-old man from Mpumalanga has been jailed for six years for a failed robbery at a Butterworth factory site in 2012.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says Ernest Sosibo, was sentenced in the Butterworth Regional Court on Thursday.
He says Sosibo was convicted in October last year on a charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Sosibo was part of a gang of 12 from Mpumalanga who were arrested for an attempted robbery at a site in the town where pension money was being kept.
Manatha says the other eleven were acquitted.
He says the gang failed to get any money but stole firearms from security guards.
