Motorist killed in head-on collision on PE Highway

Two people have been killed in separate road accidents in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the driver of a Volkswagen Polo lost control of the vehicle on the N2 in the direction of Deal Party on Thursday morning.

She says the Polo ended up in the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

One person died at the scene.

Earlier, a 47-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision on the Rooihoogte Road, outside Uitenhage on Thursday morning.

Captain Gerda Swart says she died at the scene, while the driver and passengers of the other vehicle were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
