The country's motor and component industries are entering a new phase of wage negotiations as the current multi-year three year wage deal draws to a close.
The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Business School will host a public lecture and industry debate on illegal strikes next week.
This, as part of its Strategic Conversations anthology.
Business School faculty member Professor Paul Poisat explains why a platform of discussion and debate is necessary.
"In the motor and component industry this year, crucial wage negotiations are coming up. In this context the public presentation and debate will have a special interest for the Eastern Cape. Conversations such as these opens dialogue and creates awareness enabling forward planning and effective decision making in the face of industrial action" Poisat said.
