A 49-year-old woman appeared in court on Monday on charges of theft and money laundering while she worked as an accountant at the Mossel Bay Golf Club.
Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani said Marianne Steinhobel allegedly stole more than R477 000 between April 2015 and July 2016.
She said a preliminary investigation revealed that Steinhobel took money from her work safe and blew the cash on slot machines after work.
The Golf Club auditors discovered irregularities and this lead to an investigation by the Hawks.
Hani says upon further investigation it was revealed that Steinhobel made a total of 21 deposits into her personal bank account.
The case was postponed to the 21st of November.
