Eight teenagers appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrates' Court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a spaza shop owner.
Police say the victim, known as Frank Chuandry was attacked in his shop in KwaNonqaba last week.
The suspects demanded a cellphone that Chuandry was busy repairing and police suspect that the victim refused after which he was assaulted with pangas and knives.
He died shortly after being admitted to a local hospital.
The children, between the ages of 15 and 18 will remain in custody until next week when they will formally apply for bail.
