The 27-year-old Neavan Misland made a brief appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrates court on Monday on a charge of murdering 15-year-old Felicia Micheals.
Micheals went missing on the 26th of January when she was last seen in her hometown called, Brandwag near Mossel Bay.
Her body was found on Saturday evening by members of the community, about 700 m from the sports field in town.
Micheals's body was found in a shallow grave in a bushy area.
The cause of her death is not yet known, and an autopsy will be conducted this week.
Misland was known to the deceased, and her mother told Algoa FM news that he had helped in the search for her.
The case was postponed to Thursday for a formal bail application.
