Expensive bicycles recovered in George raid

Three suspects appeared in court in George on Monday after police recovered stolen mountain bikes valued at over R120 000 each during a recent raid.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies, said the arrests were made on Friday in Marais Camp in Conville following the thefts earlier in the week.

He said two of the suspects were released on warning and will be back in court again on 11 February.

Spies said a 37-year-old man was remanded in custody pending a formal bail application.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated matter, Central Karoo K9 unit members arrested two men near an ATM in Donkin Street in Beaufort West and found several bank cards in their possession.

“The men were unable to provide any reasons for their possession thereof. Both were subsequently arrested for contraventions of the National Credit Act.

“The suspects aged 19 and 25 remain in police custody.

“They will appear in court once charged,” Spies said.
