Ten South Cape TVET College students at the Mossel Bay Campus were released on bail on Thursday, following their appearance in the local Magistrate's Court on a charge of public violence.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies says the students, aged between 19 and 36, were arrested on Wednesday.
He says this follows a protest by about 50 students on Wednesday morning outside the campus entrance.
Students told Algoa FM News that they were protesting about claims that accommodation funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) had decreased from R42 640 per annum to R25 000 per annum.
Public order police were called to the scene and stun grenades were fired.
The arrested students were released on bail on the condition that they were not involved in any public violence or any criminal activities until the matter was finalised in court.
The case has been postponed to 8 May for further investigation.
