Mossel Bay pumpkin sets new SA record

A pumpkin, grown at Ruiterbos, outside Mossel Bay, has beaten the South African record.

Willem le Grange's pumpkin was weighed at the 2021 Giant Pumpkin Festival in Heidelberg on Friday and recorded 877kg on the digital scale.

The South African heaviest pumpkin record is 860kg.

The world record is 1 191,5kg.

Le Grange says his pumpkin, called Tornado has been growing since September last year.
