The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offense Unit is investigating two separate incidents of rape that were reported in Mossel Bay and Hartenbos over the weekend.

A suspect was arrested after police investigated the rumors that a 6-year-old girl from Asla Park was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man.
The rape allegedly happened over a period of time and it is said that the suspect gave the victim money to keep quiet.
The suspect appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate Court on Tuesday on charges of rape.
In a separate case a 54-year-old resident from Hartenbos was allegedly raped when she was walking on the beach Friday afternoon. The suspect, who is believed to be in his thirties allegedly grabbed the victim while she was strolling between Little Brak River and Hartenbos.
