Free State police are investigating a case of murder after the body of a man from Mossel Bay was found on the N1 between the Gariep Dam and Colesburg.
Spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele says the 23-year-old Ainsley Hermanus works at the Gariep dam and was last seen on Saturday in the company of two men who came to his house looking for him.
He says Hermanus left with the men and did not return home.
Brigadier Makhele says Hermanus was reported missing and his body was discovered on Tuesday.
He says Hermanus' body had multiple injuries and defensive wounds indicating that he had fought against his attackers.
