A house in Mossel Bay that was on the market for a record R39 million, has found a buyer.
The property is situated at the Point and used to be a bungalow that was built on a former rubbish dump, which was considered to be outside of the town in the 1930s.
The real estate group that handled the sale told Algoa FM News that the property had been registered in the new owner's name and had been sold for the price that was asked - R39 million.
Real estate practitioner Bobby van Schalkwyk confirmed that a South African bought the property and will use it as a holiday home.
He said the new home-owner wished to remain anonymous.
Van Schalkwyk said it was a unique house to sell, adding that the property cannot be compared to other properties in the area.
The house was bought in 1975, in what is now called Point Village, and was first rebuilt in 1981. It underwent another makeover in 1999 and was revamped again most recently in 2018.
