Police in Gqeberha are investigating a case of business robbery after a jewellery store at a shopping centre in the city was robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says at about 11 a.m. a suspect, who pretended to be a customer, entered the store and held staff members at gunpoint.
She says four more suspects entered the shop and forced the complainant to open the safe where jewellery was taken.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says as they were leaving they smashed the display jewellery cases and took more jewellery.
No shots were fired.
Police said the mall was situated in the Sherwood area, although Algoa FM News has been reliably informed that the robbery happened at Baywest Mall.
According to reports, suspects have already been arrested and goods recovered.
Police said a more detailed statement will be issued soon.
