A Mossel Bay couple accused of defrauding hundreds of people out of millions have been found guilty in the Thembalethu Regional Court in George.
Graeme en Carolina Minne was convicted on Tuesday on charges of fraud and theft, involving an amount of 280 million rands.
Magistrate Denise Oberholzer said during judgement that the Minne's pretended to be successful in trading with the money of more than 500 investors on the international market.
Oberholzer said even though the Minne's did not make any money they continued to collect funds from investors and used the cash for their own wealth.
Promises were made to investors that they would earn a 4% interest per month or 65% interest per year.
But in seven years the Minne's only ever once made a profit and continued to collect millions from hopeful investors.
The case was postponed to the 21st of September for sentencing.
