A businessman from Mossel Bay who allegedly took people's deposits for solar panels without doing the work has appeared in court.

A 45-year-old Andre Boshoff made his first appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court yesterday on charges of fraud of thousands of rand.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp says the complainants allegedly paid between R85 000 and R39 000 for solar panels.

He says at least seven charges have been laid against Boshoff at various police stations in Mossel Bay.

Bail of an unknown amount was granted and the case has been postponed until the 3rd of November.
