Port Elizabeth police have arrested two more suspects who allegedly stole vehicles from a Volkswagen Dealership last week.
Three people have now been arrested and all three cars, allegedly stolen, have been seized.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says on Friday police became suspicious when they saw three brand new Volkswagen Polo's without number plates, driving in a convoy in New Brighton.
She says as they stopped the driver of the first vehicle, the others drove off.
On questioning the 29-year-old driver, he offered various explanations, one that he worked for a VW dealership in North End.
Police then took him to North End to verify his story, but as they neared the dealership, the suspect backtracked and offered another explanation.
Naidu says the dealership was not even aware that vehicles were driven out of its depot until police informed it.
She says just hours after the first arrest, officers found a second stolen vehicle parked in a single quarter accommodation, which they impounded.
Naidu says on Sunday evening the same officers were patrolling the M17 near Addo when they spotted a third Polo with no number plates.
Members became suspicious and a high-speed chase ensued with shots being fired.
The vehicle drove onto a pavement and came to a halt.
Naidu says two suspects aged 25 and 50 were arrested but a third managed to get away.
The suspects are expected in court soon.
