The body of a young boy, who went missing at Diaz Beach in Mossel Bay on Wednesday last week, has been found.
The five-day-long search for the nine-year-old Jason Nomdo ended in tragedy when his mother found his body lying on the rocks on Monday afternoon.
Algoa FM news correspondent Louise Karsten says Jason and his seven-year-old brother were playing on the beach when their ball ended up in the water.
She says Jason went looking for the ball when he disappeared in the water.
His little brother went home to tell his mother what had happened and an extensive search was launched by the National Sea Rescue Institute and police divers.
Karsten says on Monday Jason's mother went to the beach to look for any sign of her child when she discovered his body on the rocks.
Police have opened up an inquest docket.
